Revealing the Charterhouse.

GUM / PRS Architects

Portfolio
Having been hidden from view and closed to the public for over 650 years, the Charterhouse is now open to the public to explore a hidden treasure.

Client - The Charterhouse

The Revealing of the Charterhouse project was created for opening up the Charterhouse and Charterhouse Square to the visitors. The Exhibition introduces visitors to the present and past residents of Charterhouse (brothers, schoolboys, masters, nobles, servants, monks) and tells them the story of Thomas Sutton and his extraordinary charitable gift. The concept is based on the idea of remembering, as a way for visitors to explore Charterhouse People, past and present. By steering visitors to a more intimate and reflective experience.

The Charterhouse was one of my key projects at GUM. From design to construction drawings. On this project I worked together with PRS & Gum colleagues Penny Richards and Anne Hooper. The Charterhouse was opened by the Queen in February 2017.
